The food was outstanding! It was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish had a perfect balance of authenticity and creativity. The ceviche was especially memorable, bursting with freshness, and the main courses were cooked to perfection. The desserts were just the right sweet finish.

I’ve been to a lot of Peruvian restaurants, but this one truly stands out! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served with care. You can tell the owner puts a lot of heart into the place—everything from the menu to the atmosphere feels thoughtfully put together. Whether you're coming in for a quick bite or a full meal, you'll leave satisfied every time. Highly recommend!

This is a newer (2025) restaurant opened by the Avenida Peru entrepreneurs. We attended for the first time for a Father's Day buffet so we have not yet ordered from the menu. I understand they do open for breakfast and Avenida has been repurposed as a street grill food place. Atmosphere is family friendly, clean and new, not fancy, with fairly loud latin music (not as loud as it would be in Peru). BYOB. The buffet had about 20 choices, mostly served on hot plates, cold plates, or slow cookers. Drinks included chicha morada, water, maracuya, orange juice, and coffee and were included in the $50 per person buffet price. Two ceviche choices and causa. The only US item was brownies for dessert (invented in Chicago of course!) but Peruvian options included mazamorra and a flan torte. The entrees ranged from good to fantastic. There were several regional dishes that we tried: some we didn't really care for because they had ingredients we don't like (cow organs for me, certain vegetables for my spouse) but the dish was fresh, well prepared and properly seasoned. A buffet was a perfect way to try these because we would never have ordered them from a menu. The Seca de carne (beef dry soup) is unattractive but absolutely-to-die-for delicious. The fish with macho (spicy) sauce wasn't quite spicy enough for my taste, but still fantastic. We just came back from a month in Peru and this food was very authentic, very well prepared, and very enjoyable to eat.

Ceviche mixto was my favorite! The lomo (beef) is super tender and well cooked. I didn’t realize the service fee was automatically included but given the times we’re living in I still left an extra tip! I do agree that they should disclose the service fee when checking out or on the menu.

Lima Restaurant delivers an authentic Peruvian dining experience with vibrant flavors that shine in dishes like the zesty ceviche and tender anticuchos, paired perfectly with a refreshing pisco sour. The ambiance is cozy and culturally immersive, featuring traditional decor that transports you straight to the Andes, while the staff’s friendliness adds a warm touch to the evening. Though portions are generous, the service can lag slightly during busy times, but it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment. A solid four-star spot for anyone craving bold, fresh Latin American cuisine without breaking the bank.

I loved my experience here. This is the new place of former Avenida Peru (Av Peru now is more street style quick simple entrees w a limited menu). This Lima Restaurant has most of former menu if not all. Seems they are still adjusting on service and getting more clientele. They now open and close earlier than before. My plates were fantastic. Service was flawless and ambiance is great.. this is a more ample place than former. Seems to have more (not so busy) street parking. Overall I loved it. Note 15% tip is included, so anything you leave is additional, and if you ask me, well deserved!

Lima Restaurant, nestled in the vibrant heart of Chicago at 6714 W Belmont Ave, offers an authentic dive into the rich flavors of Peruvian cuisine. Since its opening in 2025 by the Avenida Peru entrepreneurs, Lima has quickly transformed into a beacon for those seeking fresh, flavorful dishes thoughtfully crafted with both tradition and innovation. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, complemented by lively Latin music that sets the tone without overpowering conversation.

What truly sets Lima apart is its dedication to authenticity fused with creativity. Reviewers repeatedly praise the ceviche — a dish that bursts with freshness, harmony, and perfect acidity, embodying the essence of coastal Peru. The main courses range from tender, expertly cooked lomo saltado to regional specialties like the Seca de carne, a unique, deeply satisfying beef stew that commands attention for its bold, comforting flavors, despite its humble appearance.

The menu’s variety also invites guests to explore lesser-known Peruvian regional dishes through specials and buffets, offering a culinary journey that balances adventurous flavors with approachable comfort. Desserts provide a sweet finish without overwhelming the palate, from traditional mazamorra to flan torte, complementing the meal in subtle, refined ways.

Lima’s commitment goes beyond the food—the service reflects genuine care, making every visit welcoming and memorable. Whether stopping by for a quick bite or indulging in a full meal experience, the ambiance, authenticity, and quality converge to leave a lasting impression. Lima Restaurant doesn’t just serve food; it shares the heart of Peru through every dish.
